Constantiaberg
6 caves in this area
Elephants Eye Cave is the most conspicuous cave on Constantiaberg. The entrance can be seen from large parts of Cape Town's southern suburbs. As the profile of the mountain really does look like an elephant, and a cave entrance is in the right location, the cave is aptly named.
The mountain is just over 900m high, with a large (100m high) radio mast and radar dome on top. The upper part of the mountain is mostly quartzitc Table Mountain sandstone and the caves on the top of the mountain show the same subsoil weathering origins as the Kalk Bay caves, only 300-400m higher.
